Background: undergraduate student in School of Environment Sciences

Contributions: teacher assistant, joy, motivation, wit, and sarcasm. I do not belong to any clubs because honestly, I am too busy with my studies and experiences, so don’t feel bad if you aren’t either. It doesn’t make or break you!

Operating Systems: I work with Windows currently and within the document mechanics of the Word program; I can assist those with questions on headings, citations, table of contents, and the other factors included in the writings. I mean it’s been a minute, but I will help you figure it out. It’s the whole riding a bike ideal.

I am senior-ish student going for a BA in Wildlife Ecology & Conservation Science with minors in Forestry and Biology and my associates degree is in Animal Science. I am also a member of The National Society of Leadership Skills (NSLS), WSU chapter.

As a born and raised Alaskan, I grew up with admiration and respect for wildlife and their environments. I hope to be part of building the bridge of understanding that wildlife is essential to our survival and their ecosystems and habitats are vital. My passion lies in studying and assisting larger mammals. I have put in many hours (and want to continue) assisting at the Bear Research Center on campus. In the past I have volunteered at Zoo Boise and cared for rehabilitated and reintroduced elephants at the Elephant Nature Park, Thailand, as well as assisted in the safe trap and capture of hawks with Chelan Ridge HawkWatch a couple times. I have also had opportunities to interact with dolphins, swim with Manatees, and have even got to shake hands with a humpback whale!

I believe that we must invest in raising the expectations of care to wildlife and include how we manage habitats by decreasing carbon footprints and fragmentation. We need to advocate for the ones with no voice and help them be recognized as part of a whole that we as residents share.

Outside of all of this, I began rock climbing this year and hike as often as possible. My photo above is the south aspect of Kamiak, and my pup enjoys the view as well!
