Hi! My name is Kate Thorne and I am a Sophomore at Washington State University. Currently, I am studying Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Sciences. I am planning on graduating a semester early in the Fall of 2023 to pursue my passion in wildlife education and environmental conservation. I took SOE-300, or Natural Resource Ecology, during the Spring semester of 2021 and am excited to be back!

A little bit more about me: I was born and raised in Austin, Texas and then moved to Los Angeles before starting high school. Growing up near lakes in Austin, I found my love of exploring the outdoors. I also found my interest in conservation while helping with community cleanups with an environmental science class I took in California. I also love to travel! For instance, I’ve been to amazing wildlife conservation centers in Alaska and Thailand. In my free time, I enjoy reading, sketching, going out with friends, or spending time with family.

Some class advice: I use Microsoft Windows as my operating system. Therefore, if anyone needs help navigating their way through some assignments, I’m here to help! I believe that the most meaningful part of this class was all that I was able to learn in only one semester. Not only did I love learning about interactions within the environment, but I also gained valuable Microsoft Word skills for my current and future work. Since SOE-300 provides exciting and important topics, I genuinely enjoyed working my way throughout this course.

Please don’t hesitate to email me or other TA’s if you have any questions!
